Hi Mike, there was a study done back in 2002 by Dr. Mark Beech of the Abu Dhabi Archaeological Survey and Dr. Peter Hogarth of Univ. of York, UK that documented most of the crab species that occur along the UAE coastline. I am still looking for that document
Nonetheless, I put this info on here just in case somebody happens to have a copy to share on this, would be extremely helpful.

My 2 cents and a pic on your query-ur image could be a variety of ghost crab species (Ocypode rotundata; esp. as it has stalky eyes)...... but again this cannot be confirmed without an expert opinion, and Im not even close ;) Ive, however, taken the liberty of attaching a pic I took of a typical ghost earlier this month on the Umm Al Quwain beach......
