Wind 15km SE
Graham and Ahmed
Although from land it did not appear very choppy once on the high seas it was. Headed south but very little doing so headed north and quite a long way off shore but we failed to locate any real flocks of terns. Checked the port beach area but again very little. The day was eventually saved when Ahmed picked up a Wilson's Petrel. We gave chase however after a couple circuits of the boat we lost it behind a wave.
Bridled Tern 30
White-cheeked Tern 1
Lesser-crested Tern 3
Persian Shearwater 5
Wilsons Storm Petrel 1
Skua sp 1
I discussed with Abdulla about doing an early morning trip and he had no problem with setting off at 6.30am It may be a bit calmer then. I'm away for a couple of weeks as of Friday but will be organising more trips in August and September.
To workout if there is a pattern I have started to add the weather conditions (you can get the from the ( weather Underground webb site for Fujairah).I will try and go back through old records as well
