I have again booked the boat for this Friday afternoon.

I'm trying to find some cheap oil and if possible will get a sack of dried fish so that we can try chumming.

No guarantees

All welcome

The big ones out there somewhere

I am a Dutch birder visiting Dubai and checking your site and forum. Noticed that you organize a pelagic trip tomorrow afternoon. Is there any chance for me to join and if so, from where does the trip start?
Thanks!

Yes you are welcome to join. We will leave from Kalba harbour at 3pm. When you get to the harbour just look for a row of small shops oposite the harbour. We will met up there. The cost will be between 100 and 150DH depending on how many people turn up.

You can call me any time 0566041391

Forget to tell you please bring a form of official identification as we have to leave it with the harbour master before we set sail.

Five of us went out today an international team with two visiting birders one from OZ and one from Holland

Sea was not too choppy. Headed south to the Oman boader and soon picked up a small raft of Persian Shearwaters. There were a lot more Common terns this week and fewer Bridled. Headed north picking up an Arctic Skua on route and then an adult? Masked Booby. Checked the area off Fujariah but although lots of terns not much else. Headed back to just south of Kalba and in a birdless sea threw a small amount of chum consisting of a few fish and oil. .Within five minutes two Bridled Terns came in and took a fish, they were followed by three Sooty Gulls and an Arctic Skua, three Persian Sheatwaters and a few Common Terns. Not bad for a handfullof fish and oil. Returned to dry land just after 6pm

Masked Booby 1
Arctic Skua 2+
Persian Sheatwater 25
Common Tern 200
White cheeked Tern 1
Sooty Gull 20
Socotra Cormorant 8

I'm away next weekend but hope to organise another pelagic in two weeks when we will try and have an extensive chuming session. I have discussed with the boatman with regards collecting lots of fish scraps

Hi Graham,

It was great yesterday. Afterwards I went to Musrif Park, arriving at 20:00. I followed your advise not just to check the area opposite the Mosk, but also the area between the Mosk and the pool. And indeed, at 21:35 I had a Palid Scops Owl in this area. In the spotlights in that "hilly" area.
I will now head up for the Crab Plover and Wadi Bih. I will let you know what I have seen.
Thanks again.
