Snipe vs Snipe

Here are two pics of Snipe I took at Warsan, the first a few weeks ago, the second today. Both taken in the early morning, so light should be about the same. Separately, I counted them both as Common Snipe - but.............. check the differences. Variations within a single species theme, or slightly different races, or ? ? ?

Hi John

Although the face pattern of the bottom one is a bit paler, the two best features for a profile of a standing Common Snipe are intact: long bill (approx. twice the length of the head) and thick stripe along back.
