Hi I'm Heather, I'm 24 and just graduated from Nottingham University (German Studies).

I'm in a minority as I prefer reptiles, mammals and insects to birds, so I'm very glad that Tommy has put up forums for ground dwelling creatures too.

I'm also hugely interested in the socio-cultural attitudes towards nature as expressed in museums, zoos and TV documentaries. Being an Arts student seems to have rubbed off on my 'scientific side' too.

My dream job would probably be natural history conservator.

If I'm not out bothering the wildlife I'm likely to be indoors; reading, faffing with my blog or doing embroidery.

Hi Heather - welcome to our small but very active group.
Nothing vulgaris about your screen-name :) - cool.

Reptiles and insects sure are fun; I have spent a very wet, rainy & cold day in New York today to upload masses of Dr Drew Gardner's photos of reptiles (http://uaebirding.smugmug.com/UAE%20reptiles%20and%20amphibians) & mammals (http://uaebirding.smugmug.com/UAE%20mammals); the list of photographed species is growing!

Looking forward to your inputs/photos/comments in the months & years to come, as well as meeting you in the field one of these days.

Are you based in Al Ain?

Yes, I am in Al Ain.

I've often come across the pictures on smugmug, they are very handy, the ones in the books are good too of course, but seeing many pictures, of different poses and colours really helps.

Dave; have you steered Prasanga towards our website?
He might have some interesting photos to add :)
