Default Multicoloured silverbills - Wamm 07.05.10

OK, so not great quality, but what are the chances of finding 4 differently-coloured birds of one species in a single frame?

You can imagine the brief panic I felt when that blue one flushed from the ground.

I think they must be escapes - some breeders/keepers feed their birds with pigmented feed to change the birds appearance, and perhaps that's what's at play here. Goodness knows what they give them to turn them blue, maybe they dye them. There was a thread on here some months ago, when Mike Hooper (I think) had some yellow Silverbills in MPG back wood. All I can say is, honestly, there's no Photoshop at work here!
