Braved the heat and was rewarded with a quail and a pair of adult feldegg wags, no sign of young. I believe yellow wags were only proved to breed in KSA about 10 years ago.
209. Eastern olivaceous warbler.
Trip down to Ta'if at the weekend. Not a lot about, highlights two flocks of collared pratincole (22 and 92) and 2 woodchat shrike.
210. Collared pratincole.
Back to my local (well nearest decent) patch today at Ha'ir south of Riyadh. A few things starting to move through, cuckoo, red-backed shrike, lesser grey shrike. First winter visitors isabelline wheatear, white-throated kingfisher. Also a great reed warbler (not sure of its status here though).
One good thing about birding here in the tail end of the summer is that up until about 10 it's not too hot as there's no humidity. After that it still touches 45c but at least you can get a few hours in.
211. Blue-cheeked bee-eater.
212. Great reed warbler.
