Thanks. I was quite cautious when I took the pic as it looked quite menacing.
The end of the lens was about two foot away from it, but I was using a shutter-release button at the side of the camera so the nearest bit to me was about 2.5 (or 3) feet I think.
Not sure they strike unless harassed, but I could be wrong.

Great shot-so the monopod's the secret I guess. I found this species thrice over the last month and never could manage such a picthanks mostly to my hand-held shots. They are actually not menacing if you give them their space, just about what you gave them - any closer and you'd have been lashed at
Nonetheless, still one of the most dangerous scorps in the world!!
