Thread: Pelagics 25th May & 1st June

    Excellent.

Question - could I hitch a ride with anybody from Dubai to Kalba ?
I will pay the fuel. Otherwise I'd have to rent a car.
I'm staying at Holiday Inn Al Barsha (near Mall of the Emirates) but I'm happy to meet up at any location in the greater Dubai area.

    thanks and best regards

    Hi

Here are some pics from Friday's (much better) pelagic.

Any further thoughts about the two birds we chased after late on? 2070 & 2072 were the two different birds that were flying together as night fell.

Btw the heron in the harbour turned out to be a Striated, not Night.

    Cheers

    Hi Wim,
If you still need a lift, I can take you over on Friday.
I live in Barsha so a pick up from where you are staying is fine.
I'll PM my mobile number to you.
    Cheers

Nice shots of the skuas, Huw.
The 7pm birds do look slim and long-winged in these shots but I'm still thinking Arctic for both. Bills are too long for Long-tailed, in my opinion.

I agree with Simon that these are Arctic.
More than 1 or 2 primary wing shafts show white and long bill with only the very tip dark.

Pom - you can see the two central "spoons" - the right one is slightly twisted, making it look pointed.
