    Sila and Delma - 24th and 25th October 2016

A big trip out west for me this week with an overnight on Delma Island. Sila was pretty quiet with three RBFs in the plantations and a brief but very close view of a Water Rail just before I left to catch the ferry. As for the island, it has been a couple of years since I was last on Delma and it was great to be back. All the usual sites are still there and the place looked quite green overall. I had some good Delma records such as an Oriental Honey Buzzard which was unfortunately being mobbed by about 500 House Crows. The hospital grounds were really overgrown and almost unworkable in parts but were teeming with warblers including a nice Sedge Warbler.

Nice records! Hospital wood is sounding good for a winter thrush hideaway. Must get over there sometime.

Isn't the pictured pipit a first winter Red-throat? Can't see it on your list.
