    Black-throated Thrush and more

    Dear all,

I've spent a couple of hours on Tuesday morning looking for the Black-throated thrush . I was able to count eight birds in total, also present there was a very shy Mistle thrush that I didn't manage to photograph, a song thrush, 2 Eurasian Wrynecks, one European robin, one Female Bluethroat, and two Whimbrels.

Since yesterday was Ladies day at the Park I went back this morning to look for the Mistle thrush, unfortunately no sign of it. The Black-throated thrushes are still there, also one Plum-headed parakeet, one female Isabelline Shrike, and a glimpse of 2 sandgrouses flying over me couldn't tell the exact species and failed to get them in frame.

Here are some of the pictures, with one having seven of the eight Black-throated thrushes flushed from one tree to the other.

    Regards,

    Fouad

Superb images, Fouad. And congrats on a new high count for the thrushes in the UAE.
Too bad the Mistle Thrush got away!

Great stuff, Fouad. Shame I didn't get down to the park this week for once!

Mistle Thrush is actually quite a rare bird in the UAE - yours would be only the 21st ever recorded. Would you mind submitting a Rare Bird Report for our records, please? You can email the form to either me or Tommy at the addresses on the form.

    Thanks, Fouad.

Mamzar continued to host a few goodies this morning, with at least 4 Black-throated Thrushes remaining, though very shy, 2 Wrynecks, one Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Yellow-browed Warbler. Given that the YBW was in the same cluster of trees and as equally silent as the individual on the 29th October, I assume this is still the same bird. Whatever, it showed quite nicely for me and SteveT for about 5 minutes.

Hopefully, the wife's hairdo will also fulfill that brief, Stewart. And even if it doesn't, remember to act with complete amazement!
