Alexandrine parakeet .. are they commonly seen in UAE

    Hi,

Saw 4 Alexandrine parakeets at Mushrif park area in Abudhabi.

Are they common here or escapees?

Very common on AD island, Linto. A lot harder around the rest of the UAE, but very easy around the MPGs area.

Hmmm how did you manage to take the photos? the park does not allow cameras inside and outside the park you are not allowed to take photographs. Have they eased out the restrictions?

    Hi Desmond,

Regarding Mushrif park/now called Umm Al Emarat park, you need to talk to the security personal out there . He took me to the park managers office and gave me a permission letter to carry the camera inside.

Used to be quite common in Safa Park in Dubai.I think first pairs in Abu Dhabi became resident in the old Cultural Foundation area and old building complexes it had in the early 2000s. May be Dr Richard Hornby of former ENHG know of the dates it first settled in AD.
    Good shots indeed
