    Ajban - Shrike ID ?

    Dear All,

took a trip to Ajban on the 28th of November, few migrants were there, mainly waders, and a grey shrike that I'm doubting it could be a Lesser grey shrike.
It might not be the best time of the year, no pinkish underparts, and no extensive black forehead, however small size, short tail, white wing panel on primaries, and no white supercilium made me think otherwise. Here's the list of the uncommon birds and some pictures of the Shrike. Let me know what do you think about it.

    Common teal 2
    Mallard 4
    Common sandpiper 1
    Little stint 2
    Ringed plover 1
    Kentish plover 2
    Common Snipe 8
    Jack snipe 1
    Western Marsh Harrier 2
    Common Kestrel 1
    Desert Warbler 1
    Isabelline wheatear 2
    Desert Wheatear 2
    Water pipit 3
    White wagtail 4
    Southern grey shrike 2
Unidentified Grey Shrike 1 (pictures attached).

    Hi Fouad,

The lack of white supercilium, greyish tone of the breast and black mask bridging the bill are all good characteristics of the aucheri ssp of Southern Grey.
