    New rules for Qudra Lake

    https://www.khaleejtimes.com/nation/...-lake-in-dubai

Great news that camping & barbecuing are now prohibited, but disappointing that the list of banned activities (see end of article) for which there is a 500AED fine (doubled on repeat offending) also includes accessing by vehicle.

This explains why DM have been gradually piling sand in front of the entrance routes. Although not totally inaccessible if you want to walk, cycle or own a horse, this pretty much puts yet another site off the Dubai birding circuit.

It should be possible to work with DM and get access with passes to the resident birding community, via Reza Khan. Hopefully

The "no vehicles" is the only thing I see as a problem, are we supposed to park in the Cycle Shop car park and walk all the way to the Oasis Lake?
This area appears to be 100% off limits now. Shame.

Hopefully, but it also depends on how they impose the fines. The article suggests that it is tagged to your your car reg, so they could just log numbers without even issuing a ticket, especially if you've wandered off from your vehicle. I wouldn't fancy the bureaucratic effort involved in getting the fine rescinded, permit or not, in that scenario.
