Thanks to you both. Sorry I missed the subtle hint. I looked closely at beema but in the image in BOME, which I try and use for identification, it doesn't show the dark patch under the eye that my bird had.
It's a beema Yellow Wagtail, Bob - the commonest form of YW that occurs in the UAE. Tommy was posting the Grey Wagtail link for you to contrast with his other (flava/beema) link. when struggling between Yellow & Grey, look at the mantle colour - green in Yellow Wag and grey in, er, Grey...
