Is it a Pond Heron or Squacco in subadult plumage Al Qudra Lake 10 July 2019
Also lead-grey upper mandible to bill, "braided rope" streaks on neck.
Thank you so much Tommy for the confirmation. There were 2 adult Sqaucco in the nearby reed bed and on the island. Regards
reza Khan
A GREAT record, Dr Reza
I'd say Indian Pond Heron due to the strong black line between eye and bill, with dark neck streakings and a very dark back as good supporting ID features.
