    Oily duck at Khor Qirqishan--Hameem

    in Identification problems

Had to go for CoViID testing in Musaffah this morning and took a quick run out to my new favorite beach. The first bird on the beach was a Crab Plover- a great way to start the day.... about two-thirds of the way down the beach I came across this oily looking duck.... and there's no ducks on record at the site on e-bird...

Can anyone give me a hand?

Hi Ted. It is a Northern pintail. I have seen a few of them on the spot back in March, but not recently. They were staying far over the canal though.

Thanks Nikos! You have some great photos - that's partly what got us to start going out there...
