I think I'm getting the process of posting to the forum wrong.........
...these are a couple of images of the Brown shrike at Al Qudra/Bab al Shams on 13 March. Huge blow-ups as it was distant and sharpened but not colour adjusted in any way.
I can't seem to download this picture so I can lighten it, but I would say it's Turkestan. White throat, strong mask, pale edges to the tertials,quite fine bill, smallish head and not particularly long tail seem to fit that species better.
