A new site has been developing close to where I live in Abu Dhabi. I am not sure if someone has already reported this before. It is a large water body on the intersection of the Dubai Highway and Al Falah exit which is just before Shahama. Coordinates 24.488629, 54.655355. It was being developed over the past few years and I believe it is the evaporation Lake for the waste treatment plant just across the road. While I was driving to work last week, I noticed some Flamingos in the lake and decided to pay a visit on Friday. It is very promising for the future.
* Since I wrote this i noted that it is already listed on e-Bird as Bin Butti overflow. Thanks
List of birds observed:
10 Flamingos

2 Mallard
1 Northern Shoveler
2 Pied Avocets

10+ Whiskered Terns

2 Grey Herons
20+ Black winged Stilts
2 Common Redshanks

1 Marsh Sandpiper

1 Terek Sandpiper
2 common sandpipers
4 Kentish Plovers
1 Common ringed plover
4 Crested Larks
8 Western Yellow wagtails

10 White Wagtails

It is interesting to note that the Yellow and White wagtails were hanging out as one big flock in excess of 20 birds. I have never seen so many of them together at any one time.
I could not ID the below bird and any help is appreciated.
* Pale-headed Pied Wheatear - Thank you Tommy Pedersen

Top bird is a feldegg Yellow Wagtail Bottom is a Citrine Wagtail
Below are the other wagtails recorded from the same spot. They were a mixed bag.
Thanks for the heads up, Luigi. I'll try to swing by and take a look this week. Tommy, I notice there are two eBird pins for this site. Would it be worth it to combine them?
Greenshank: bill looks thin enough for Marsh Sandpiper
The photo you have is of a hybrid Yellow Wagtail. Nice
Bin Butti overflow indeed. Nice to see it's better than ever!
Odd bird is a pale-headed Pied Wheatear - they are moving through the UAE now. Keep watching this spot. Great potential
