Hey All,
Spent 3+ hours in the hot early morning sun from dawn to about 9 AM trying to zero in on sighting of saw scaled vipers that had been reported to me by a fellow herper near the Sharjah monument on Shj-Dhaid road, just across from the Arabian Wildlife Centre ..... Not much luck with snakes but the trip paid dividends as there were loads of toad heads and fringe toes around...... I counted at least 20 toad heads and 40+ Schmidts fringe toed lizards in an area roughly about a couple of square km.
Weird behavior with one Schmidt's was its willingess to be out in the open with me for a good 15-20 mins to the point where I got tired of it following me around and had to scurry away (pics attached). Lots of Desert squash creepers (fruit bearing) around + a skink (not sure eastern or sand) that I couldnt +vely identify as it sunk into the sand before I could get close to take a pic. I'm loading a pic of suspect ?snake? tracks as well that seemed a few hours old at least.
Regards,
Ajmal
