Safa Iguana 5th may 2011

Yesterday I found a meter-long Common Iguana. This species is used as a pet animal in many houses in the UAE. Either it escaped from captivity or someone has deliberately rel;ased it in Safa Park.
As Iguana is a vegetarian it will fare well in Safa. Also it is not a dangerous reptile. However, we must remember that jaws of reptiles are powerful and their bites could be painful and in the opened up skin of the bite area we may get secondary infection from bacteria.

Quite interesting, Dr. Reza. Could you please tell me whereabouts in Safa you saw the Iguana?

On the bank of one of the 2 ponds together and the whole area is fenced off with pointed iron bars. The area is called "birds sanctuary or bird promenade" in the boards.
The other water area is the boating lake. Didn't see it there.
