    Heron id needed

    in Identification problems

    Is it a Pond Heron or Squacco in subadult plumage Al Qudra Lake 10 July 2019

    Also lead-grey upper mandible to bill, "braided rope" streaks on neck.

    Thank you so much Tommy for the confirmation. There were 2 adult Sqaucco in the nearby reed bed and on the island. Regards

    I'd say Indian Pond Heron due to the strong black line between eye and bill, with dark neck streakings and a very dark back as good supporting ID features.
