    Shikra I Thought

    in Identification problems

Within half an hour of moving into our new apartment in Hyatt Regency Creek Heights this bird landed outside our window. Scrambled for a camera and got these two shots. Shikra or Sparrow Hawk I think.

Great shots of a curious Common Kestrel :-)

Great alliteration Tommy. Not improving am I? My Kestrel images in the book I use do not look anything like what I took.

Check female/juvenile Kestrel images, Bob. And maybe clean your windows..... ;-)

Thank you Mark. I'm afraid the days have gone when I used to rope down tall buildings but it was disappointing to find our windows as dirty as they are otherwise great views over the Creek and Creek Park and looking forward to other birds perching.

A moderate clean up and slightly different pose.

Got one of the family in flight at last. Is this a male or female adult?
