Eagles and Green Water

These eagles were having fun at the side of very green water. It was not just a sheen on the surface of the water it had real depth. The picture of the Tern/Gull (please help with identity) taken the following day shows a distinct green stain on its belly, probably as a result of the water the day before. Did anybody els see it?

Nice shot, Bob; though you’ll get the hang of those Slender-bills one day... 😜

Hi Mark. Thank you for the comment and ident. The green stain on the gull's belly is probably due to whatever turned the water green. Below is the image of the eagles that took 3 attempts to load.

Once again apologies for not appending dates and locations: Eagles 15/3/19, Gull 16/3/19; both at Ras Al Khor, Lagoon Hide.

  • After seeing so many Hume's, this bird was spotted this morning by my daughter Sarah. I had her on the lookout for a Hooded Wheatear as we drove through the wadi! It was hopping on and off the wall at the side of the road through the village. By now others have also seen it, so hopefully there should be a few more photos soon. Regards, Steve
  • I got a couple shots of this little guy below but I'm having a hard time identifying. Seems like a warbler of some kind. Seen flitting in the branches of acacia bushes picking small insects from the leaves. Photos don't quite show what seemed to be a fairly distinct bar across the eye. Thanks in advance for helping!
