I'm pretty sure the shrike is 1st-winter Turkestan.

The gull can not be identified beyond Larus sp.

We call them 'Large white-headed gulls' here in the UAE See the online downloadable Checklist for the possible species involved

The shrike is a juvenile 'Isabelline', probably Turkestan. It would help to know what time of the year the image was taken to support this - Sep/Oct would favour Turkestan, Dec-Feb Daurian.

I'm going to pass on the gull, however.

    Hi Mark,

The shrike was in December, so it seems like a Daurian/Isabelline juvenile. Thanks a lot.

Anybody on the Gull please ...
