    Qarn Nazwa ID help

    in UAE bird sightings

I got a couple shots of this little guy below but I'm having a hard time identifying. Seems like a warbler of some kind. Seen flitting in the branches of acacia bushes picking small insects from the leaves. Photos don't quite show what seemed to be a fairly distinct bar across the eye. Thanks in advance for helping!

    Hi Jeffrey,

This is a Plain Leaf Warbler. The short bill & short tail help separate it from Chiffchaff which would be the only other likely Phylloscopus at this time of year.

    Replying to

I'm visiting Dubai from South Africa, so I am not fully up to date with species found locally. You need to ask the local experts but it might possibly be: Willow Warbler  Phylloscopus trochilus  They are migrants to the southern hemisphere, and it may be en-route
