If you like some peace and quiet, try this location for waders in Abu Dhabi. You need to get there early and before the Tide rises. Have fun

In UAE bird sightings
After many months of COVID hibernation, I finally managed to force myself to go look for some birds and headed towards Hameem Beach, Abu Dhabi, which is a good hot spot for Ospreys. Upon getting there, I found that the beach was closed due to a massive construction project. The best location to observe and photograph Ospreys is gone! maybe forever. I sincerely hope that this will not affect the birds because they usually stay on the opposite side of the Canal and would be relatively free to do their 'thing'. However, the adjacent Khor Qirqishan area is still undisturbed and apart from the hundreds of fishermen, it is un-touhed. I was about to give up and head home when 3 beautiful Ospreys appeared in the far distance out of nowhere and I was relieved to see that they are still out there.

A new site has been developing close to where I live in Abu Dhabi. I am not sure if someone has already reported this before. It is a large water body on the intersection of the Dubai Highway and Al Falah exit which is just before Shahama. Coordinates 24.488629, 54.655355. It was being developed over the past few years and I believe it is the evaporation Lake for the waste treatment plant just across the road. While I was driving to work last week, I noticed some Flamingos in the lake and decided to pay a visit on Friday. It is very promising for the future. https://www.google.ae/maps/place/Al+Shahama/@24.4903246,54.6472962,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x3e5e4efe9ba1cbad:0x738abd1e63c3db5f!8m2!3d24.490111!4d54.6547463?hl=en * Since I wrote this i noted that it is already listed on e-Bird as Bin Butti overflow. Thanks List of birds observed: 10 Flamingos 2 Mallard 1 Northern Shoveler 2 Pied Avocets 10+ Whiskered Terns 2 Grey Herons 20+ Black winged Stilts 2 Common Redshanks 1 Marsh Sandpiper 1 Terek Sandpiper 2 common sandpipers 4 Kentish Plovers 1 Common ringed plover 4 Crested Larks 8 Western Yellow wagtails 10 White Wagtails It is interesting to note that the Yellow and White wagtails were hanging out as one big flock in excess of 20 birds. I have never seen so many of them together at any one time. I could not ID the below bird and any help is appreciated. * Pale-headed Pied Wheatear - Thank you Tommy Pedersen

Saw these near Muhassinah 4 on Dubai Sharjah border on 2nd March. Quite a large flock. In fact I am seeing them everywhere including Abu Dhabi, posing quite a threat to air traffic.
